Connect: Volunteer Deployment Resources

Below are some resources we hope you will find useful as you prepare for volunteer deployments on behalf of With You. Please check any of the boxes for guidance on roles such as event hosting, serving as a table captain, writing thank you notes, and leveraging social media to support the campaign’s efforts.

By path or experience

Event host or table captain

Your purpose as an event host/table captain is to:

  • Raise Awareness: Share the campaign’s vision and priorities with guests to increase understanding and support.
  • Build Connections: Engage with guests to foster relationships that are vital for the campaign’s success.
  • Facilitate Participation: Encourage and guide conversations, and ensure guests feel welcomed and informed.
  • And, most importantly, have fun!

To prepare, please familiarize yourself with campaign resources such as campaign priorities, key campaign messages, With You FAQ‘s and recent stories of impact. In advance of the event, your WashU contact will connect with you to review briefing materials and relevant talking points or logistics and answer any other questions you may have.

Thank you notes

The purpose of writing thank you notes to our generous WashU community members is to:

  • Express genuine appreciation for With You donors’ contributions and commitment to the university’s mission.
  • Foster and strengthen connections between WashU and our philanthropic partnerships.
  • Acknowledge the impact their support makes. Together, with WashU’s generous community, we can do amazing and world-changing things!

Social media

The purpose of social media advocacy in support of With You is to:

  • Increase awareness of, engagement with, and support for the university’s highest priorities by reaching a wider and more diverse audience.
  • Amplify campaign messaging, attracting new champions, fostering a sense of community, and providing an accessible platform for real-time updates and interactive content.
  • Empower our WashU community to easily share their experiences and encourage others to get involved, ultimately enhancing With You’s reach and real-world impact.

Thank you for helping us spread the word about With You: The WashU Campaign on your social media channels! Below are some tips for announcing the campaign to the WashU community.

  1. Make sure you are following @WashUAlumni on Facebook, Instagram, and X.
  2. Share our WashU Alumni With You social posts throughout the campaign. Feel free to tag @WashUAlumni in your own Stories or feed posts.
  3. On LinkedIn and other social platforms, share a link to the With You campaign website.
  4. Copy and paste the sample social text below, or use your own WashU story to explain why the campaign is so important.
  5. Add one of our With You images to your social post to make it stand out!
