Future-Ready Leaders

With you, WashU is redefining leadership for the next generation, equipping every individual to engage in leadership as a dynamic and collaborative process.

WashU seeks to become the nation’s premier institution for training tomorrow’s most driven and visionary leaders. We have launched comprehensive leadership development programming through the George and Carol Bauer Leaders Academy. We have coalesced and strengthened all career services through our new unified Center for Career Engagement, which empowers wide-ranging personal and professional exploration. And we have increased supports for our growing body of limited-income and first-generation students through the Taylor Family Center for Student Success.

From their first days on campus, all students enter a process of personal reflection that sets them on the path to lives of meaning and purpose. Through their success, WashU amplifies its collective impact on the world. With your philanthropy and partnership, we can enable WashU to cultivate leaders of principle, character, and conviction who are equipped to address the significant and complex challenges of our time. With you, this is what WashU can do.

“A lot of times, people wait until they’re in a position of authority to start acting like a leader. They think leadership means formal power or expertise. But leadership means leadership.”

“You don’t have to be a CEO to be a leader. Anyone can lead by taking initiative and finding ways to provide value. True leadership is about being willing to learn, asking questions, and bringing people together to work toward a common goal.”

“At WashU, I learned two very different ways of thinking through studying business and the liberal arts,” he says. “Business is a lot of black and white, and political science is more shades of gray. There’s a time and place for each, and both have been invaluable to me. That’s the whole point of education, in my opinion — being open-minded to different points of view and using them to build your own.”
